Today I learned about "Current Trends and Issues in English language Education in Asia", "21st Century Skills", and "Major Trends in the Global Field: A Non-Native English-Speaking Professional's Perspective".


Current Trends and Issues in English language Education in Asia

There are 18 countries as follow;
 > ESL: (post-colonial countries); Malaysia, the Philippines, Sri Lanka
 > EFL/ESL: Hong Kong, Singapore, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, the UAE
 > EFL: Korea, China, Taiwan, Japan, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Iran, Israel

Current Trends
1. The Starting Grade of English Language Education (most of these countries start at grade 1)
2. English Class Hours(Thailand = 3/4 week)
3. National English Curriculum (Thailand = 1st to 12th grade)
4. School Textbooks (Thailand: teachers or English-related departments develop their own teaching materials.)
5. Teaching English Through English (Thailand: tertiary English)
6. The Use of Computer for English Language Education(Thailand: ICT(self-access learning centers))
7. The University Entrance Examination (Thailand: Nation-wide exams)
8. English Teachers (Thailand: generalists)
9. Tertiary English Education (Thailand: mixed with the native language)
10. English-medium Subjects (Thailand: Junior Secondary, Senior Secondary, and Tertiary classes)
11. Problems and Concerns in Primary & Secondary English Education (Thailand: implementing policies, research studies for academic promotion, lack of qualified teachers)

Today I enjoyed for group work but issue was quite difficult. So friends were very important for me.

Day 9

21 March, 2017 Today I learned about the Effect of New Technologies on English by David Crystal.  He talked about the Effect of New Technologies on English such as; CMC (computer mediated communication), 2.0 (twitter), WWW., hypermedia. The new technologies actually enhance the English language,they facilitate new pursuits by developing a new style of the English language.  Twitter is not asking us about ourselves anymore, it is more in third person, therefore asking use what is going on around us.  How the Internet help teaching English?  > Weblogs enhancing EFL students > chatting with friends in real life in English > write diary > make you think in different way English is spread worldwide and most of technology and internet has English as written on various pages. So Internet has many benefits to teach English. Thanks!!

Day 12

18 April, 2017 Today I learned about "The end of CLT: a context approach to language teaching by Stephen Bax". CLT is Communicative Language Teaching. CLT focused on communication but not for context. So An approach that argued CLT is Context approach. There were many reasons showed that we don't need CLT such as; In Czech Republic, Holland, and Taiwan, teacher didn't use CLT but their students could speak English very well. Today I enjoyed about the lesson and discussion in the class. I thought I understood this class well. Thank you!!

4 April, 2017 Today I learned about ICT. What is ICT? ICT IS ............ What is blended learning? Computer Assisted Language Learning = CALL : Three phrase of CALL 1. Behavioristic CALL 2.
