Day 6

Tuesday Again!!!

14th February, 2017

This morning, class had many activities. They were good. First, teacher let Satit and Maturin told about their experience from exchanged students to training teaching of another countries. They had good experience, although they met some problems like weather or food. For the weather, it was cold but they could stand until the last day. Satit went to Indonesia. He met good friends and they help him in some events. In addition, He met the challenges for teaching mix students from many countries. I thought it was very challenge and interesting too. For Maturin, she met good friends that they were Thai people too. They helped together. In teaching, she didn't have lesson plan but she tried and could pass it. Both them were good and attention in their duty.

After that we read the sample classroom. It was about differences of teaching and learning English in the classroom of Malaysia, Mozambique, and China. An English lesson in Malaysia, teacher stayed in the center of circle from children. Teacher told the story slowly in the first and then let the students move to individual desk. It's quite silent, teacher had interaction to students, and the students had motivate to do activity. An English lesson in Mozambique, teacher was in front of the class, the students sat in pairs and copied the dialogue from board. After that teacher moved around class to listen practicing speaking of the students and let them presented it in front of the class. It's noise and the teacher had to control them. And an English lesson in China, teacher wrote the title of text on the blackboard and key point. Students listened and noted. Until near to class end, the teacher let the students asked questions about what did they learn and assigned homework for them. It's quite silent and boring.

From an English lesson in Malaysia, Mozambique, and China, they had different method to teach their students. Each method had both of strength and weakness, so any teacher can modify or adapt in her/his class.

However teachers' belief will send result to the students. If they belief that their students can do it and have different ability, they will patient and help their students always. But if the teachers belief that their students can't do it, they will not patient to improve their students'abilities and their students will not want to learn it again.

Understanding  and belief in abilities of your students, you will make your students success in their lives. Although it is hard to do but it is possible.

Day 12

18 April, 2017 Today I learned about "The end of CLT: a context approach to language teaching by Stephen Bax". CLT is Communicative Language Teaching. CLT focused on communication but not for context. So An approach that argued CLT is Context approach. There were many reasons showed that we don't need CLT such as; In Czech Republic, Holland, and Taiwan, teacher didn't use CLT but their students could speak English very well. Today I enjoyed about the lesson and discussion in the class. I thought I understood this class well. Thank you!!

Day 9

21 March, 2017 Today I learned about the Effect of New Technologies on English by David Crystal.  He talked about the Effect of New Technologies on English such as; CMC (computer mediated communication), 2.0 (twitter), WWW., hypermedia. The new technologies actually enhance the English language,they facilitate new pursuits by developing a new style of the English language.  Twitter is not asking us about ourselves anymore, it is more in third person, therefore asking use what is going on around us.  How the Internet help teaching English?  > Weblogs enhancing EFL students > chatting with friends in real life in English > write diary > make you think in different way English is spread worldwide and most of technology and internet has English as written on various pages. So Internet has many benefits to teach English. Thanks!!
