Day 12

18 April, 2017 Today I learned about "The end of CLT: a context approach to language teaching by Stephen Bax". CLT is Communicative Language Teaching. CLT focused on communication but not for context. So An approach that argued CLT is Context approach. There were many reasons showed that we don't need CLT such as; In Czech Republic, Holland, and Taiwan, teacher didn't use CLT but their students could speak English very well. Today I enjoyed about the lesson and discussion in the class. I thought I understood this class well. Thank you!!

11 April, 2017 Today I learned about "Current Trends and Issues in English language Education in Asia", "21st Century Skills", and "Major Trends in the Global Field: A Non-Native English-Speaking Professional's Perspective". Current Trends and Issues in English language Education in Asia There are 18 countries as follow;  > ESL: (post-colonial countries); Malaysia, the Philippines, Sri Lanka  > EFL/ESL: Hong Kong, Singapore, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, the UAE  > EFL: Korea, China, Taiwan, Japan, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Iran, Israel Current Trends 1. The Starting Grade of English Language Education (most of these countries start at grade 1) 2. English Class Hours(Thailand = 3/4 week) 3. National English Curriculum (Thailand = 1st to 12th grade) 4. School Textbooks (Thailand: teachers or English-related departments develop their own teaching materials.) 5.
